Occasional Table Collection for Bernhardt Design · CNC Hardwood

Stone softened into wood.
Ishi is a collection of organic nesting tables inspired by the Japanese word for stone, as well as the elegant worn appearance of weathered river rock. The tops have edges that evoke the soft, natural contours of stone, while the contrasting hard edges of the concave and convex forms create a contrast between rounded softness and crisp definition, an example of how an organic surface appears in an interior setting.

CNC-machined hardwood built to scale across a range.
The tables were CNC-machined from walnut, maple and red oak, and designed to be versatile. They are offered in a variety of shapes and sizes, with leg heights of 14, 16 and 18 inches, and can be customised to suit different interiors. The organic concave/convex geometry was designed to remain both expressive and manufacturable across every variant.

This is a production collection that has been shown on the national stage.
Designed for Bernhardt Design, the Ishi collection was presented at ICFF in New York and NeoCon in Chicago.
