Independent Soft-Goods Practice · Pattern to Finished Product

(01)

A one-person factory specialising in soft goods.

KASOKU is my independent soft-goods design practice, in which I oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and flat-pattern drafting to hardware integration, final assembly and packaging. Each piece is a study in manufacturing feasibility and tactile quality, featuring precision construction and durable materials to ensure the 2D pattern can be transformed into a 3D object that retains its shape during daily use.

The process goes from digital pattern to verified construction.

The process begins with digital refinement, which involves testing the geometry against real constraints such as material thickness and hardware tolerances. I then fabricate the final product to verify the construction logic and tactile quality, such as seam engineering, hardware integration and structure, before final detailing. Where volume demands it, I collaborate with local craftspeople to increase production without compromising on build quality.

It's a repeatable soft-goods system, not a one-off.

It is an ongoing, vertically-integrated line, which proves that I can take a soft good from a flat pattern to a durable, hardware-integrated finished product entirely in-house, and then scale it up through a trusted local fabrication network.

The scope is the full lifecycle: pattern → fabrication → hardware → finishing. Construction involves engineered seams and integrated hardware (buckles, zippers and D-rings). Materials are durable technical textiles and functional hardware. Scaling is achieved through a partner network of local craftspeople.
